Central Africa – Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Educational Crisis
January 12, 2013
By Padmini Arhant
The quagmire contributing to lack of economic development in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has not only resulted in the loss of staggering 5.5million lives thus far but also severely affected the future of children in that war torn nation.
Arguably, the preventable crisis in eastern region of Congo between M23 i.e. March 23 movement and western backed government in the capital, Kinshasa has been unnecessarily prolonged in semblance with Mali dispute involving the disenfranchised natives Tuaregs in the northern territory and the respective western installed government in Bamako facilitating pretext for western powers invasion in the current French air raids and U.S. drone strikes is the contemporary trend imposed on vulnerable nations around the world.
DRC in particular has experienced devastations in many aspects and sadly civilians pay the price with children being the worst victims of warfare.
The conflict in North and South Kivu provinces has destroyed livelihood and infrastructure not even sparing schools in both provinces used as temporary shelters for fleeing population seeking refuge.
According to UNICEF report – Over 600 schools are damaged in North and South Kivu territories and as a result around 240,000 students apparently missed weeks of schooling due to ongoing unrest in the eastern part of the country.
UNICEF is seeking $6 million (€ 4.6 million) for educational projects in two provinces protecting children from harm’s way.
This is undoubtedly a grave situation and often transforms into a breeding ground for violence leading to child soldier recruitment favoring major military powers arms industry.
World citizens are urged to kindly come forward with their generous donations in assisting UNICEF educational project in eastern Congo.
We cannot deny the children of DRC and elsewhere caught in the crossfire, a safe existence with basic requirements such as proper educational facilities and environment conducive for survival.
Please do not hesitate to demonstrate your compassion, the inherent quality of human beings to attend to those in dire strait.
You may visit UNICEF website and reach out to children in Democratic Republic of the Congo and please help them with their target goal – i.e. $6 million or (€ 4.6 million) for North and South Kivu school project.
Your generosity and kindness is much appreciated.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

India – Crimes Against Women
December 30, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
The deceased twenty three year old gang rape victim with then Congress government naming her Nirbhaya meaning fearless was denied due respect in terms of her personal wish and real identity.
The ruling class deliberately withheld her name under the guise of privacy especially when she is no more.
Since world creation, all creatures including inanimate objects are known by their name and origin regardless of purpose behind such existence.
In this particular instance, the victim was a member of civil society and belonged to a caring family.
The rise in sexual assault against women in India is reflective of contemporary moral decay in society attributed to corruption and unscrupulousness in politics besides entertainment industry portrayal of women.
Nonetheless, the victim was not anonymous and possessed common characteristics beginning with her real name.
According to news reports, the victim was pursuing career in health care field and engaged to the male companion.
According to victim’s parents – their daughter’s wedding was scheduled in February 2013 with respective families preparing for the event at that time.
The government pretext to conceal victim’s name and transporting the patient overseas during critical condition contributed to victim’s untimely death constituting homicide.
Even after victimization in every aspect, the cremation was reportedly carried out hastily to cover up UPA (2) government with then major opposition BJP and other political factions complicity in state intrusion.
The girl’s parents as legal guardians and sole decision makers were denied legal right by the UPA(2) government led by Sonia Gandhi.
The state interference was not limited to disrupting medical care and treatment until last minute but also extended to rites and rituals in private citizen’s personal affair.
Congress and BJP response to non disclosure of victim’s name was falsely stated as parents’ will despite the parents refuting political authorities claim.
The father’s message to Indian society was the government mistreatment of his daughter was deeply regrettable and beyond disgrace. He further added that political class projected her as perpetrator even though she faced the crises with dignity until her last moment.
The political maneuver and aggression against law abiding ordinary citizens likened to victim’s family widely deployed ignoring impropriety.
In a similar incident that involved high profile political members like Congress party Vice President Rahul Gandhi, the gang rape victim Sukanya and family from Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh were threatened as per victim’s relatives accounts that led to Sukanya’s father committing suicide while the victim Sukanya along with her mother forced to flee town becoming a fugitive for life.
The government indulgence in defiance of logic and civility appears to have no boundary in seizing citizens’ inalienable human rights from birth to death representing prejudice and abuse of power.
Again Congress government, BJP and political counterparts showed no concern for humanitarian law in this matter.
Memorializing the innocent’s life without acknowledgment of her legitimate name more for political reasons conforming to discriminatory practices is unprecedented and invalidate victims plight for malevolent pursuits.
Failure to adhere established standards further confirms degenerative qualities to societal detriment.
Social equality and justice is best demonstrated in fairness and genuine appreciation of individuality transcending superficial impositions as general acceptance.
Remembrance of victim’s ordeal would be appropriate upon society and world at large humanizing traumatic suffering rather than politicizing the crime.
Many fall prey to politically motivated civil and human rights violation.
Wishing solace to bereaved family and abandoned members yearning for their voices to be heard in the exclusive system granting impunity to authoritarianism fomenting crimes against defenseless citizenry.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

India – New Delhi Government Intervention Leads to Rape Victim Fatality
December 28, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
Indian Capital, New Delhi erupted in mass protest in the past two weeks when twenty three old young paramedic student was attacked by nefarious group in public transport and the government gross mishandling fomented youth euphemism vis-a-vis identical crime reportedly comprising names of individuals in incumbent political party.
Ref: http://www.presstv.com/detail/2012/12/28/280631/indian-gangrape-victim-dies-in-singapore/ – Thank you.
Ref: Regarding Government intrusion on civilian care.
http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/rape-survivor-airlift-was-govt-not-medical-decision/article4246109.ece
The rape victim apparently died overseas upon New Delhi Government direction to shift the patient in critical condition to Singapore despite Medical experts and attending physicians’ strong reservations against such action.
Perhaps it is time for Indian youth to rise to the occasion and demand justice not only in this tragic situation but also call for public investigation on the previous rape victim Sukanya evidently shared similar experience with a difference being the perpetrators in this particular case were allegedly members of the ruling political party not barring the prominent entity expected to be the contender for the highest office on land – Prime Minister post in 2014 national election.
Any nation’s future is dependent on younger generation spirit to protect national integrity and credibility.
Although the burden of responsibility is on entire society, the youth as potential leaders in various fields especially politics that obviously in desperate need of decontamination and sanitization are expected to come forward in defending nation from degeneration.
Ref: http://www.presstv.com/detail/2012/12/28/280505/gangraped-indian-girl-commits-suicide/ – Thank you.
Prior to Delhi incident there was another alarming report referenced above in the link – involving a 17 year old young woman in Patiala, Punjab – again a target of brutal sexual assault by a group of criminal elements and the victim denied access to file First Information Report (FIR) – a prerequisite to pursue legal course against offenders per relevant judicial law.
However, according to the reports the law enforcement personnel deprived victim and family from the legal right exemplifying their complicity in the crime.
As though that was not enough, the corrupt police officers reportedly humiliated the teenager with the suggestion to drop the idea of filing formal complaint and,
Further advised her to either accept financial settlement or marry one of the rapists in compensation of her lost dignity and honor.
Subsequently, the teenager committed suicide much to her family’s devastation.
Obviously, there are more gruesome incidents waiting to be exposed and threatened from being brought to public domain likened to Sukanya matter due to high profile political entity being implicated in the criminal act.
National sovereignty and democratic system is tested in the demonstration of fairness and equality on all issues specifically social justice conspicuously on the decline in the world’s largest democracy under foreign rule.
Jago Bharat! Wake up India! Save the nation from subjugation.
With prayers for the departed souls to rest in peace,
Sincere condolences offered to all rape victims’ families and survivors in the nation enshrined with female deities and goddesses epitomizing valor in the resurrection of righteousness and dharma.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

December 14, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
Heartfelt Condolences to young victims’ families on the loss of precious ones in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, Connecticut.
No words could possibly substitute life and violence involving fatalities is pervasive due to misplaced priority that disregards national issues over vested interests negatively affecting humanity at large.
There are far too many problems confronting nation and the quest for dominance is unfortunately the primary goal among prominent leaderships engaged in spreading violence worldwide having a ripple effect on neglected domestic affairs threatened with severe austerity and economic downturn.
Violence in public premise and educational institutions curtail freedom creating unnecessary fear and obviously requires society involvement for serious debate on the burgeoning issue.
In addressing the cause with civil society diverse input, the citizens could then initiate measures leading to pragmatic solutions subsequently becoming the law that guarantees safety and security for all.
Moreover, the government policy authorizing excess force to quell dissent resulting in police brutality and general approach to resolving crisis adopting military aggression combined with inhumane sanctions directed at population of foreign nations rather than peaceful diplomatic course premised on non-violence and compassionate conduct precipitates erosion in rational behavior.
The political leaderships misguidance and misappropriation of national budget in military spending claiming innocent lives around the world is directly responsible for deterioration in living standards fomenting frustration and disappointment among certain members perhaps finding themselves incapable of dealing with personal and professional challenges in life.
United States is currently experiencing greater adversity in all fronts due to external control on national politics and economy with severe impact on social structure.
The citizens’ solidarity transcending barriers imperative to restore real and meaningful democracy with republic governance unlike the status quo undermining national sovereignty and human values that United States contemporarily lost to powers focused on subjugation denying fair socio-economic opportunity.
Trend reversal reclaiming liberty and sharing vision for lateral progress would alleviate undercurrents within society.
Besides inclusive strategy promoting ideas and investments to improve living conditions across the spectrum is necessary to revive social harmony and environment devoid of violence and prejudice.
Citizens participation in political discourse seeking checks and balances on government as well as private sector role equally important for ethical introduction to contain misuse of position and moral decline.
Society functionality is dependent on framework epitomizing peace; mutual respect and understanding with emphasis to appreciate not violate life.
Review and revision of practices in entirety could avert potential danger to people for instance the administration reportedly relaxed firearms license rules contributing to skyrocketed purchase of assault weapons in conjunction with controversial ‘Fast and Furious’ program proliferating arms trade across the U.S. and Mexican border to prolong narcotics warfare producing mass graves on Mexican soil.
Congressional inquiry on all these activities with bipartisan consensus exemplifying legislators commitment to safeguard citizens lives would mitigate prevalent concerns regarding mainstream protection from domestic attack.
Once again extending sympathy to the parents and survivors of the deceased in the senseless act,
The departed souls are remembered in thoughts and prayers to rest in permanent peace.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

November 3, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
The East Coast in the United States hit with hurricane evidently affected the local population considering the loss of precious lives and survivors struggling to cope with ramifications following calamity.
In locations like Long Beach in the state of New York with barely 10,000 people, apparently life abruptly suspended with prolonged power outage and essential shortages that has led some into looting and harming others to survive the crisis.
The government response in this instance according to Long Beach resident is introduction of martial law to curb the situation. Around 1,000 military personnel deployed to maintain law and order that has not brought respite to the victims fearful of the ongoing chaos and confusion.
FEMA – Federal Emergency Management Agency primary task being precautionary measures beginning with adequate advance warning to citizens residing in zones predictable with extreme weather patterns and emergency preparedness well ahead of time upon confirmation of inevitable disaster from meteorological survey could mitigate tragic losses to lives and livelihood.
Subsequent to arrival of major storms and floods, the coordination among public and private sector including humanitarian groups could also organize relief efforts involving safe evacuation and basic provisions in addition to food and shelter.
Communities on their part could mobilize in maintaining calmness while helping each other rather than depriving one another from necessities leading to panic and security problems needlessly creating opportunity for military or paramilitary presence in civilian area.
Moreover, the National Guard sole purpose defined to defend national territory and safeguard residents at the critical hour with relevant rescue operations are instead deployed overseas to rein control over Middle Eastern oil, African minerals and Central Asian gas pipelines through illegal invasion and occupation.
The tax dollars are regrettably wasted in destabilization of sovereign states in the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Asia leaving United States citizens on the lurch during catastrophe and tough economic period with significant unemployment rate prevalently exacerbating people plight.
Again, the political leaderships misplaced priority combined with federal agencies mismanagement witnessed in Katrina, BP oil spills in Gulf coast and now Hurricane as well as floods are indicative of the commitment or the lack thereof towards public interest and restoration to normal state.
The national focus on immediate assistance to citizens in East Coast and neighboring parts of the country experiencing adversity from Hurricane and other weather conditions would ease the deteriorating status for many bracing unnatural occurrence from environmental degradation caused by pollution, contamination and extensive energy exploration ignoring renewable natural source option.
Private sector especially the insurance companies and other industries could extend their timely support in addressing replacement and provisional requirements for clients and general society.
The government allocation of disaster funding with efficient implementation would provide solace to demography in dire straits besides improving residential facilities such as electricity, water, fuel and various supplies for inhabitants comfortable return to respective towns and cities in the East Coast.
Meanwhile, the members engaged in exploiting human tragedy are urged to refrain from theft and threats to fellow citizens concerned about their life and property.
The community response with empathy, compassion and outreach to those dependent on aid in any manner would benefit all.
Assuming collective responsibility for common good guarantees desirable results alleviating individual burden during ordeal.
Citizens across the United States and overseas are requested to come forward and generously donate to victims and their families through legitimate means to salvage damages sustained by them.
Your understanding and cooperation is deeply appreciated in nurturing life regardless of identity.
Human concept to evolve from degeneration to progress greatly enhances quality and personal wellbeing.
Wishing swift recovery to people currently enduring difficulties from weather related issues in East Coast and elsewhere.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

United States – Memorial Day 2012
May 28, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
Memorial day is an occasion to memorialize martyrs and those sacrificing lives in defending national frontier.
However, the contemporary era dominant with warfare without boundaries for access to overseas economic resources and strategic advantage is the existential threat to humanity.
The quest for global supremacy adopting military intervention shows no mercy to life, regard for nature and above all defies international law.
Young men and women join the armed forces to serve the nation and protect the people of their country.
The modern wars predominantly waged through illegal invasion, occupation and destruction of nations for vested interests.
Considering war is a travesty that produces pervasive death and grief,
The ramifications evidently are irrelevant not to mention the atrocities against occupied nationals – the norm in the so-called civilized society.
The marines and troops at large upon being disillusioned lately from the mission not being remotely related to defending national territory but instead launching aggression with generational impact – loss of lives, severe health conditions, congenital birth defects, deformities due to chemical weapons such as depleted uranium again in direct violation of Geneva convention.
The vast majority of armed personnel experience betrayal and some of them suffering from psychological trauma with few demonstrating frustration by desecration of corpses, burning holy Quran and indiscriminate shooting spree…symptoms that are disturbing and deeply regrettable in the losing battle.
As for discharged and retired veterans – the courageous sharing of horrific tales and events while on duty perpetrated against innocent civilians in the war nations dealt with legal actions and some even subjected to veteran benefits withdrawal although the entitlement long been threatened to divest in further warfare.
The humanity faced with challenges not from the splintered terror networks rather the mastermind under the umbrella organization – New World Order.
Wars are conducted with no accountability on mounting casualties and burgeoning debt, violation of military code of conduct and above all the distortion in human toll on all sides including the brave men and women delivered in stars and stripes wrapped coffins prohibited from public view to avert anti-war protest.
The army unified with civilians categorically need to convey the message to the ruling elite – No more carnage and chaos around the world and not in our name.
Anti-war movement near the latest NATO summit were treated with excess force in police response that caused serious injury to many activists profusely bleeding and not widely reported in the media.
United States led NATO intrusions responsible for decimation inflicting pain and suffering on nations continue operations with persistent drone attacks that has claimed nearly 35,000 lives in Pakistan alone with much higher statistics in neighboring Afghanistan.
Similarly NATO interference in Libya under humanitarian pretext reportedly killed at least 40,000 or more with none held accountable for the horrendous crime against humanity.
The army misused by the nexus conglomerate profiteering from tragedies of war and those executing orders having never served in the line of duty commission troops in harms way for exclusive agenda.
It is time for collective resistance, rejection and peaceful non-violent revolt against the combined groups engaged in treason and massacre under the guise of national security.
The unanimous stance would restore United States honor and image notwithstanding the opportunity for the army patriotism in liberating nation from subjugation and reclaiming sovereignty currently under seize by new world order.
The deteriorating conditions eroding civil rights with Patriot Act, NDAA, ACTA and CISPA laws passed especially in the past months endangering democratic system and national identity that United States gallantly represented and now desperately required to be rescued from the hostile authority opposed to democracy, peace and harmony throughout the world.
Procrastination in rising to the occasion would minimize the potential to succeed in the national freedom.
The army and domestic security urged to exercise patriotic responsibility for republic safety, national status and democratic values increasingly compromised to accommodate one world government.
In remembrance of those having dedicated their lives to national service,
Memorial day is a reminder to end wars in pursuit of peace and respect for life and environment – the only habitat for all.
Sincere condolences to victims’ families and survivors of slain servicemen and women in different war zones fought for reasons excepting national defense.
With hope for peace to prevail over widespread violence,
Wishing the nations expeditious independence from foreign incursion.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

UNHRC Vote – Sri Lanka Tamils & Palestine Politicizing Humanitarian Issues
March 26, 2012
UNHRC Vote –
Sri Lanka Tamils
&
Palestine
Politicizing Humanitarian Issues
Padmini Arhant
On March 22, 2012 – United Nations Human Rights Council voted on two pertinent humanitarian issues related to gross human rights violation in Sri Lanka and Israeli occupied Palestinian territories of West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Sri Lanka – United States tabled UN resolution against the island nation in the Indian sub-continent for the lack of remedial measures in the post conflict between Sri Lankan government and the resistance group for self-determination and emancipation – Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
The glaring similarities in the Tamil and Palestinian plight are state oppression and persecution unequivocally inciting a segment within subjugated population to retaliate for violent suppression of basic human rights giving birth to militancy.
Although LTTE representing Tamil suffering and previously PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) dissenting illegal invasion and occupation of meager Palestinian land declared terrorist organizations by the same nations having profited from lucrative arms supply to them directly and indirectly,
Neither the respective state aggression provoking these networks violent reactions held accountable nor their disproportionate use of force qualifying state sponsored terrorism condemned demanding an end to atrocity against entire demography via enforceable UN resolutions.
Nothing happens without a cause and government misuse of armed forces under national security pretext has become the norm in compliance with military industrial complex chartered course often deviating from peaceful negotiations and constructive dialogue prolonging victims’ ordeal attributed to political stalemate.
The government authority with political and military power reliance on ammunitions rather than democratic means to address citizens’ grievances ignites perpetual crossfire endangering innocent civilians on all sides while the defense industry flourish from arms influx exacerbating the confrontation.
Sri Lanka is yet to acknowledge ethnic Tamils the integral part of society through fair political rights in the national and provincial level, economic opportunities barring origin based discrimination; social equality demonstrated in facilitating healthy living conditions and education emphasizing inclusiveness are the milestones for communal harmony.
Poignantly, Sri Lankan Tamils were mandatorily transmigrated from native India by then colonial power to work in the formerly known Ceylon tea plantation.
With British Raj departure leaving behind conundrums as souvenir invariably in every colony around the world,
Since then Tamil identity in Sri Lanka unfortunately formulated into burden on society instead of appreciating economic contributions predominantly benefiting the majority due to prevalent disenfranchisement.
Notwithstanding credible sources as well as independent investigative journalists accounts on brutality and state authorized military executions in open fields showing no mercy to women, children and men perceived as terror elements in the absence of any evidence to such convictions.
Sri Lankan government under President and Commander-in-Chief Mahinda Rajapaks primarily held responsible for serious violation of international law in indiscriminate killings constituting ethnic cleansing per reports accompanied by massacre footage.
Society vision as one community and nation reaps the rewards of pervasive peace and prosperity eliminating rifts and threats in the domestic front.
Simultaneously the unity safeguards sovereignty becoming the formidable force deterring external interference for vested interests.
U.S. organized UN vote against Sri Lanka with 24 in favor, 15 against and 8 abstentions in the 47 member council is indicative of equal opposition except for a swing vote barely altering the result considering abstinence on crucial issues is political expediency interpreted as Nay vote.
Even the swing vote apparently from India as Sri Lanka’s neighbor and present Indian government being close ally with Sri Lankan counterpart diluted UN mandate to Sri Lankan discretionary actions compromising effectiveness of the protocol.
Alongside sponsor United States commending strategic partner India’s calibration as positive.
The resolution directed at implementing Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) recommendations with repeat request to re-investigate serious allegations on government approved crimes against humanity by the government.
Unlike independent international body findings for objectivity and accountability perhaps in the global judiciary system given the international criminal court justice credibility marred with selective indictments on humanitarian crimes.
India reportedly cast vote in reluctance heeding coalition political pressure at home that could have otherwise led to incumbent administration collapse setting the stage for early national elections.
The political party from Tamil Nadu State in alliance with current UPA 2 government at the center accused of conspiring in the Congress Party leader and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination.
Not to mention the self-protection impulse against potential backlash from AFSPA (Armed Forces with Special Powers Act) abuse in northeast and Kashmir valley implicating state and central government especially Home Ministry and Defense Ministry for disregarding security personnel abuse of civilians in the region.
Likewise the opponents voting against politically motivated resolution might have general objection in reference with timing, content, intent, or averting possible scrutiny of policies towards their citizens in parallel scenario.
As for nations negative vote quoting three years insufficient time for Sri Lanka to begin the healing process is a weak argument when generations have been wiped out in targeted genocide.
Nonetheless nations mistreatment of citizens and killing spree whether in their domicile or overseas could not be ignored as an internal affair even though those committing such crimes routinely claim in self-defense like Sri Lankan Special Envoy on Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe with reports on China and Russia agreement in this regard adding to the disappointing factor.
Turning a blind eye to injustice is complicity sharing equal ramifications for a civilized society. The world could not be treated as one preferentially to suit economic pursuits.
However on social and political fairness anomalies eventually affecting all – the strategy to distance from the matter delegitimizes the global organization such as United Nations functionality to alleviate human misery.
Palestinian Resolution – On the same day following U.S. drafted resolution against Sri Lanka, UNHRC passed a resolution to conduct a probe on Israeli settlements infringement upon Palestinian statehood.
Interestingly, the outcome far better than Sri Lanka resolution probably associated with sponsorship and substance delivered among 47 members – 36 votes in concurrence, 10 abstentions and,
United States the only nation to reject the proposition against Israel confirming conflicting U.S. positions on humanitarian problems endured by people expecting rationale to prevail over politics.
UNHRC resolution calls for Israel to cease settlement activities in Palestinian land,
Officially engage in terminating expansion with an estimated 310,000 Israeli citizens occupying West Bank and,
According to international reports – Israeli committee issued permits for additional 500 homes in Northern West Bank in late February this year,
Besides 200,000 Israeli residents in a dozen or more neighborhoods in East Jerusalem annexed by Israel defying international condemnation.
The resolution also emphasized on Israel intervention in curbing violence with weapons confiscation from Israeli settlers throughout Palestinian homeland.
United States cried foul and denounced the resolution as partisanship against Israel.
Arguably Israel settlement agenda despite UN and international community outrage clarifies grave consequences for the U.S. ally isolated in dishonoring resolutions – the decision commonly found reproachable worldwide.
United States duality in UNHRC resolutions against Sri Lanka and Israel defines self-defeating purpose in politicizing humanitarian issues deserving genuine empathy and sincere commitment to reflect UN obligation in dispute settlement setting precedence for the future.
Citizens in Sri Lanka and Israel have unique opportunity to perform national duty in guiding their country towards freedom, equality and justice for all.
Best Wishes to people in Sri Lanka, Palestine and Israel for peaceful co-existence.
Peace to all
Thank you.

February 21, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
Tough economic times have taken toll on all in the society especially the most vulnerable and needy bearing the brunt of austerity.
However, the hope is revived with many charity organizations and volunteers’ sincere commitment to provide for the demography struggling to make ends meet in their lives.
Some of them have additional restraints due to physical disabilities and are challenged in daily survival increasingly becoming arduous with deep cuts in state and federal funding for vital programs.
Although population in general are weathering harsh winter in United States and other parts of the world,
Sadly, many have succumbed to the extreme weather while others yearn for human generosity and kindness to rescue them from the plight.
Citizens are kindly requested to extend their support to the less fortunate and disadvantaged members in the society.
Similarly, lawmakers with the power to make a difference in human lives are urged to pass bills in bipartisanship prioritizing humanitarian needs at the critical hour.
Economy and environment being intertwined – the United States Congress once again have the opportunity to unanimously approve Gulf Restoration bill.
The funds from BP fines related to Gulf Coast environmental disaster could save many American families suffering from the oil spill endangering life and habitat.
United States citizens outreach to humanitarian aid is emulated and appreciated worldwide.
Human empathy towards all transcending social and economic identity could foster better relation besides promoting much required peace and harmony in the world confronted with violence and warfare.
Natives in the land are often forgotten members in the society.
Nations’ focus on disproportionate military spending and urban growing demands absorb bulk of the budget allocations leaving little or none for rural as well as indigenous people progress.
Society prosperity shared among all would contribute to universal development.
Energy costs hurt the average citizens and further exacerbated with any preparation for unnecessary and unaffordable involvement in military intervention particularly in the oil producing Middle East.
Winter is a major hurdle for the poor dependent on charity to keep them warm and safe.
Children susceptible to illnesses from inadequate heating are the worst victims in the exponentially rising energy expense.
Your thoughtfulness through donations and petitions to congress members could alleviate suffering endured by many in silence.
Please take a moment and review the genuine plea from different charity organizations with a common goal – saving humanity.
Your compassion could heal the pain and uplift human spirit.
Thank you for your assistance in the humanitarian cause.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

2. Kids in California left to fend for themselves?
From: Easter Seals – Creating life-changing solutions so that people with disabilities can live, learn, work and play.
All around the country, states facing tough times are being forced to slash their budgets – and many are choosing to balance the numbers on the backs of children with special needs. Major cuts could have major consequences for children who depend on state funding.
A recent Easter Seals report found that programs serving children with disabilities are so underfunded that more than one million kids are going undiagnosed and untreated for their special needs. Without the proper support, these children will struggle to keep up in school and in life, even though the health and learning difficulties they face are treatable.
Since we launched our Make the First Five Count campaign last year, more than 40,000 people like you dedicated to helping children with special needs have asked government officials to protect federal funding for the programs that help our most vulnerable kids succeed. But many children are still falling through the cracks – so we can’t stop there. This year, we’re taking our message to the state level, too.
Right now, elected officials across the country are weighing their options and making crucial decisions about how they’ll balance their state’s budget this year. Many will have no choice but to make painful cuts – and when it’s time to cut the budget, programs for children with disabilities are often among the first items on the chopping block.
This is your chance to speak up – if you don’t, even more children could miss out on their best chance to get the help they need at the age when it’s most effective.
I know you won’t let them down. Thank you for your support.

5. Urgent Alert: Please ensure BP’s Fines go to the Gulf!
From: Louisiana State
Dear Friends,
We need your help right now to seize an historic chance to restore the Gulf Coast to environmental health.
It is outrageous that almost two years after the worst environmental disaster in American history, Congress still has not passed a single new law dedicating BP’s fines to repair the long-term damage done to the extraordinary and economically vital Gulf Coast and Mississippi River Delta.
But, right now, the bipartisan RESTORE Act has been attached as an amendment to the Senate transportation bill, giving us a golden opportunity to finally move forward. In our more than 35-years of work on this issue, we have never had such an important opportunity to make so much progress.
If Congress doesn’t pass legislation to direct BP’s fines to Gulf restoration, two things will happen:
- The funds will simply go to the U.S. Treasury’s “general fund” – to be used on unrelated federal spending, and
- We will have squandered a once-in-a-generation opportunity to invest in real Gulf Coast restoration.

Here is why this legislation matters. For decades, the fragile Gulf Coast wetlands have been cut up, channelized, and engineered to serve the offshore oil industry and shipping interests – starving the wetlands of silt and sediment and poisoning them with saltwater.
As a result, the wetlands are disappearing – not just shifting or changing – they’re actually vanishing at the astonishing rate of a football field every hour.
So, after the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, last year’s BP blowout and resulting oil catastrophe battered an already depleted and vulnerable coastline.
And the damage is still being felt. To this day, oil continues to wash up on Gulf shores. As much as 30 percent of the spilled oil is still out there: on or under beaches, draped across marshes, sunk to the bottom, floating as tar balls.
This issue isn’t complicated. As the Gulf struggles to recover, the only thing we’re asking Congress to do is simply pass common sense legislation to direct the BP fines to fix the Gulf.
Sadly, in Washington these days, nothing is simple. That’s why we need you to help us force the issue.
Help us make sure Congress stops holding the battered Gulf Coast hostage.
Thank you for your activism and support,

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – Life and Legacy
January 16, 2012
By Padmini Arhant
The great leader is remembered today for his commitment and sacrifice towards social justice and equality.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – a theologian and peace activist touched many lives across the spectrum with a deep understanding for human suffering that led to civil rights movement.
Emulating Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent principle in civil disobedience,
Dr. King enlightened society on basic human rights i.e.
All are born to be free and created equal.
The civil rights leader prevailed in emancipation from segregation and subjugation.
Dr. King inspired many in recognizing human values through mutual respect and empathy for one another.
Considering the intensity in human rights violation – Dr. King admirably practiced peaceful and non-violent means to break barriers proving the power of virtuous deeds.
Dr. King’s human rights legacy constitutes American heritage.
However, the civil rights legend dream for mankind – world without prejudice,
Perhaps be reality then conflicts driven atrocities would not be dominant characteristics in contemporary society.
Innocents would not be incarcerated and sentenced to premature death like Troy Davis and many in the nation proudly declared as – the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Guantanamo bay would not exist with nearly 175 human beings held in indefinite detention as terror suspects without trial or legal representation while enduring medieval age torture.
The latest incident involving certain U.S. marine indignation of deceased Afghan fighters in war torn Afghanistan and previously Abu Ghraib would not become the American image.
Congress would not be preparing to curb Internet access denying constitutionally guaranteed first bill of rights.
Similarly congressional efforts in restricting minority voting rights through mandatory voter ID would not be threatening citizens’ fundamental exercise to elect representative in a democracy.
Peaceful protesters might not have confronted with violent crack down from government.
Patriot Act – spying and constant surveillance along with unwarranted wiretapping would not be the law in the land of justice.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream paradoxical to present events.
Nonetheless, Dr. King’s faith in better tomorrow resonates throughout with global revolutions such as occupy protests and Arab spring demonstrating civil rights martyr spirit in overcoming challenges now and the days ahead.
DR. Martin Luther King Jr. dedication to civil rights and life in general would always be cherished and honored in perseverance for social progress.
Peace to all!
Thank you.

Philippines – Typhoon Emergency Aid
December 18, 2011
By Padmini Arhant
Philippines, the Archipelago in South East Asia is bracing severe floods from typhoon Washi.
So far more than 600 casualties reported and several residents missing from the affected zones.
The rescue operation through army and federal agency is a daunting task considering the magnitude of damage and rising death toll.
Further, the landslides are exacerbating the emergency response in saving lives.
The displaced victims sheltered in public premises across different provinces are relying on essential supplies and services such as drinking water, sanitary conditions to avoid waterborne disease other than medical provisions, food and necessary articles.
Philippines geographical location with fault lines, volcano and vulnerability to tropical storms from the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea pose extreme weather conditions often resulting in loss of lives.
With torrential rain predicted to follow the devastating cyclone,
The international community is urged to offer financial assistance to minimize operational hazards in reaching the flood survivors with medical requirement and other needs.
Individuals could also provide for the cause easing economic burden on the government besides alleviating population suffering.
Global warming is a serious threat to humanity emanating from environmental negligence.
The prolonged unusual weather is unsustainable on the economic, physical and environmental standpoint.
Global society collaborative effort in reducing substantial carbon emission is the immediate priority and governments together with various communities’ commitment could expedite the desirable outcome.
Please make donations to international charity Red Cross and other reputable organizations by visiting their website and contribute to Philippines disaster relief.
Your generosity and compassion in the critical hour would be much appreciated.
With sincere condolences to victims’ families, prayers are offered for swift recovery and restoration.
Peace to all!
